Biggie - Basses, Vocals

John Bigger was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and began playing bass at the age of 13. He earned a B.A. in Economics from North Carolina State University in 1992 and a Masters in Project Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He is also a first-degree black belt in Kenpo karate.

His earliest influences included Chris Squire, Geddy Lee, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius and various 70s fusion bassists. As time dragged on, Biggie succumbed to the influences of funk, punk, jazz, 60s & 70s R&B & funk, world music and whatever else floated through the annals of his tape/record/CD collection.

Shortly after college, Biggie moved to Colorado, got married, and sought like-minded musicians for mutual exasperation. Having played in a number of improvisational/jam-friendly bands (including Boulder-based Tucker) and having studied jazz bass for many years, Biggie desired an eclectic group of musicians with whom to create original music. Having somehow conned the other members of Ebeneezer into accepting him into the band in January 2004, Biggie could finally rest easily with his newly formed Witness Protection Program identity.
